Canada’s Pay Transparency Website — Equi’Vision

The Canadian government, led by Minister of Labour Seamus O’Regan Jr., has launched “Equi’Vision,” a groundbreaking website aimed at promoting workplace equity. This platform provides public access to data on workforce representation and pay gaps experienced by women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and visible minorities within federally regulated private sector industries.

Equi’Vision is the first of its kind globally, making it easier for users to compare data on these disparities, which is crucial for identifying and addressing barriers to equity. The data is sourced from annual reports submitted by employers with 100 or more employees under the Employment Equity Act, though individual salary information remains confidential.

The initiative encourages businesses, workers, and the government to collaborate in creating inclusive workplaces, which is beneficial for both the economy and society as a whole. The ultimate goal is to reduce pay gaps and improve representation for marginalized communities in the Canadian workforce.
