PEAT Releases a World Class Framework Intersecting AI and Individuals with Disabilities

PEAT is funded by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy and managed by federal contractors at Wheelhouse Group, a Cadmus Company.

What are the highlights?

  1. Know your legal requirements that your organization is subject to
  2. Get staff aligned and have experts related to AI and employment
  3. Know your tech – really. Make sure you inventory all the elements.
  4. Work with your vendors and know THEIR roadmaps for AI – especially if it will be included in your purchase.
  5. Do the work – have AI assessments done just to even prove that you do them.
  6. Know how you are offering reasonable accommodations and document them.
  7. Be transparent with your employees and audiences on AI use.
  8. Add humans to the mix. Human decision making needs to be marked and documented.
  9. Monitor and governance – have it. Make an active program not a reactive report.
  10. Have a ticket / incident system and response plan. When “it” happens, be ready.
